Maybe it's just the plug!

It is possible that there is nothing wrong with your appliance

Before calling a technician, you should check if the appliance is plugged in correctly and if the circuit breaker hasn't been tripped. You should also check the power cord and make sure that it's not frayed or damaged.

Loose connections can cause power surges which can damage the appliance. If the same problem occurs when you try a different outlet, it could be a sign of a bigger issue with the appliance, such as a wiring problem, which requires professional attention.

Power surges can also be caused by other issues, such as an overloaded circuit or a faulty breaker. If the power surges happen when nothing else is plugged into the outlet, it could be a sign of an issue with the power lines.

However, it is important to note that not all appliances will break down within the first five years. In fact, some appliances may last much longer than that. For example, refrigerators typically have a lifespan of around 13 years, while dishwashers have a lifespan of around 9 years. So, while it is important to be aware of the potential for appliance problems, it is not necessarily true that all appliances will break down within the first five years.
According to CR's 2018 surveys, around 15 to 40 percent of appliances, depending on the category, will develop problems or break within the first five years.

There are common problems with all appliances, which are caused by a variety of factors. For more information, check out common washer problems or common refrigerator problems.
